HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Legislative Review Committee - 11/11/2007 -r r LEGISLATIVE REVIEW COMMITTEE Meeting Summary November 11,2007 Legislative Review Committee present:Doug Hutchinson,Ben Manvel,Kelly Ohison Staff present:Steve Roy,Wendy Williams,Mark Radtke The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hutchinson at 4:05 p.m. MEETING SUMMARY The meeting summary for the October 16,2007 Legislative Review Committee meeting was approved as written. LEGISLATIVE POLICY AGENDA The Committee reviewed an additional revision to the Legislative Policy Agenda (LPA). The section dealing with Electric Retail Wheeling was deleted due to the retreat of the issue in recent years. The Committee then finalized its draft 2008 Legislative Policy Agenda that will be submitted to the full City Council at its November 20 meeting. DISCUSSION OF UPCOMING LEGISLATION City Attorney Roy informed the Committee that work continues to draft both a Downtown Development Authority extension bill and an Urban Renewal Authority reform bill.Senator Bacon has agreed to sponsor both bills for the City. Mr.Radtke said work is also underway on a camera radar bill by the Police Chiefs Association.That bill would ease current restrictions on the use of camera radar for traffic enforcement by local government. Mr.Radtke also informed the Committee that an earmark request will be filed with Senator Allard’s office in support of securing Federal Transit Administration funding for the Mason Corridor Project.The timeline calls for submittal of the request by March, with congressional action expected in the October 1,2008 transportation budget. LEGISLATORS BREAKFAST Mr.Radtke announced the tentative date of December 17 for the Council/Legislators annual breakfast. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
