Vision: Fostering, among residents of Fort Collins, a contributive commitment to their city via a contributive commitment to their neighbors. Goals: 1.Greater civic engagement 2.Lower demand on government / non-profit resources 3.Improved local economy 4.Increased “residence longevity” STRATEGIC PLANNING Neighborhood “districting” Work to preserve key partnerships that can do what the City cannot do. TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE Economic Environmental Social INFLUENCES, BARRIERS AND POLICIES THAT WILL AFFECT OUTCOMES Zoning U + 2 City-Wide Festivals - Push out to neighborhoods? Gentrification - Smart? Socially-Concerned? Social media use by the City - The medium is the message. NEXT STEPS The neighborhood districting project. Develop the conversation (build the vocabulary for the City) Promote the conversation (don’t underestimate face-to-face promotion) Diversify the conversation (rely on a variety of other partners) Informal vetting of neighborhood leaders. They need to be people who are already involved - for others’ good.
