EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The purpose of this item is to appropriate $275,373 of unanticipated grant revenue in the Equipment Fund as funding support for the July 2021 purchase of an electric street sweeper and charging station. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of the Ordinance on First Reading. BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION The State of Colorado is a beneficiary of the ‘Volkswagen Diesel Emissions Environmental Mitigation Trust’, part of which has been awarded to the City of Fort Collins to purchase an electric street sweeper and a charging station. Grant funding for this project ($275,373 for the City) comes from Colorado’s allocation from this trust, which is managed by the Regional Air Quality Council. On June 29, 2020, the City of Fort Collins was awarded funding as follows: Electric Street Sweeper: $267,673 Charging Station:$7,700 CITY FINANCIAL IMPACTS This Ordinance increases 2021 appropriations in the Equipment Fund by $275,373. While the total cost to purchase an electric street sweeper was $571,536.90, this grant offsets part of the that amount to complete the purchase. The amount of $303,864 was appropriated for the purchase through the lease purchase program and the additional grant funds were expected to cover the remainder of the purchase price. The street sweeper and charging station were purchased in July 2021.
