Resolution 2021-004 Expressing Gratitude and Appreciation to Kristin Stephens for her Contributions to the
Community as City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this item is to express gratitude and appreciation to Kristin Stephens for her contributions to the
community as Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
Kristin Stephens was elected as a Councilmember for District 4 on April 7, 2015, was re-elected on April 2,
2019, and has served for five years and eight months on City Council. The City expresses its sincere
appreciation and gratitude to Kristin Stephens for her service and contributions to the community as District 4
Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem, and in the many roles she has served in during her time on City Council.

RESOLUTION 2021-004
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION
TO KRISTIN STEPHENS FOR HER CONTRIBUTIONS
TO THE COMMUNITY AS CITY COUNCILMEMBER AND CITY MAYOR PRO TEM
WHEREAS, Kristin Stephens was elected as a City Councilmember for District 4 on April
7, 2015, was re-elected on April 2, 2019, and has served nearly six years on City Council; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has served for nearly two years as Mayor Pro Tem
during her time in office; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has served as the Council Liaison to the Community
Development Block Grant Commission, the General Employees’ Retirement Committee, the
Transportation Board and the Youth Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has also served on the Ad Hoc
Chief Judge Recruitment Committee, Ad Hoc Direct Reports Compensation Committee, Ad Hoc
Housing Committee, Futures Committee (Alternate), Election Code Committee (Alternate),
Ethics Review Board, Legislative Review Committee (Alternate), Poudre Fire Authority Board of
Directors, National League of Cities Human Development Committee, North College Urban
Renewal Ad Hoc Committee (Alternate), Library Trustee Selection Committee, North Front Range
Metropolitan Planning Council (MPO), Policy Advisory Committee of the Regional
Transportation Coordination Task Force; North I-25 Coalition and Working Group Funding
Committee; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens served as a Commission Member on the
Community Development Block Grant Commission from 2013 to 2015 2017 and the Women’
Commission from 2002 to 2003 prior to her election to City Council; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has been a strong advocate of expanding access to
affordable childcare, affordable and attainable housing, and ensuring a high quality of life for all
Fort Collins residents; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has promoted efforts pertaining to equity and
inclusion, youth involvement in government, and is passionate about treating every individual in
our community with respect and dignity; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has partnered with the City’s state and federal
elected officials and appointed representatives to advocate for and advance priorities consistent
with City Council’s and improve the lives of Fort Collins residents; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Stephens has shown her strong and continued commitment
to our community, serving nearly six years as City Councilmember for District 4 from April 2015
until the end of 2020 and as Mayor Pro Tem since April 2019.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Kristin Stephens for her
service and contributions to the community as District 4 Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem, and
in the many roles she has served in during her time on the City Council.
Passed and adopted at a special meeting of the City Council held the 5th day of January,
A.D. 2021.
