HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 12/12/2018City of Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board Minutes Wednesday December 12, 2018 11:30 a.m. Fort Collins Senior Center 1200 Raintree Drive Fort Collins, Colorado 80526 Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity y to the Fort Collins City Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community. NOTE: Joint lunch with Fort Collins Senior Center Council; followed by a shortened meeting Board Members Present: Myles Crane, Sarah Schilz, Janet Sanders, Jason Brabson, Suzanne King, Dhara Rose, Wendy True Staff Present: Katie Stieber, Lisa Hays Speaker(s) and Guests: Bill Swaling PAFC, Watersedge Absent: Greg Wells I. Public Participation IV. Speakers a. Bill Swaling Watersedge i. Described what accessory dwelling units could look like in the future. Explained benefits for the homeowners and community. V. Ongoing projects VI. Updates a. Senior Transportation Coalition - Jason Brabson b. City of Fort Collins Affordable Housing, 1st Thursday, 4 pm c. City of Fort Collins Transportation, 3rd Wednesday, 6 pm, 215 N. Mason community room – need liaison-- d. PAFC steering committee: e. PAFC – Housing f. PAFC culture of aging committee – Myles attended reframing concept of aging – see email g. PAFC health and wellness committee-Myles attended “A Little Help” group resource for seniors needing chores done around the house VII. New Business – Brief Discussion of Any Issues of Concern a. Education - b. Outreach - c. Advocacy d. Work Plan draft was submitted by Sarah and Myles. All members are to review and submit comments to Katie by end of day on Monday December 17th. e. The Senior Advisory Board unanimously approved the slate of candidates for officers for 2019 for vote scheduled in February with Myles Crane as Chair and Sarah Schilz as Vice Chair. f. KFCG discussion as it is due to sunset in 2020. We will ask for a presentation at the January 7th meeting g. Sarah motioned, and Myles seconded for Jan to pursue looking into the prospect of utilities including a note with utility billing statements to encourage people to vote. h. In recognition and appreciation of the contributions of Dhara Rose and Wendy True, the SAB took a group photo. Dhara is relocating to New Mexico and Wendy’s full term on the SAB is expiring.
