Motion to accept agenda made by Colleen Conway. Second by Phil Walker. Vote 5-0 o APPROVAL OF MINUTES. o Correction to who made statement “Be Brave.” Changed from Colleen Conway to Wendy True o Wendy True moved that the 9/12/19 minutes be approved. Second by Colleen Conway. Vote to approve: 8-0 o PUBLIC PARTICIPATION o None o PRESENTATIONS o None o BUDGET REVIEW o Current funds available: $2641.22 o Approximately $600 in outstanding bills o Remaining funds would then be approximately $2000 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING: 11/14/19 11/14/2019 – MINUTES Page 2 o NEW BUSINESS o Review nominations for HRC Awards 2019  Discussion on accepting a nomination for an HRC member Voted 7-1 to accept nomination with stipulation nomination member does not vote Will discuss creating a more detailed policy regarding nominations when the HRC meets in January 2020.  Nominations discussed and voted on with the following selected: o Adult: Johanna Ulloa Giron o Organization: Compass Collaborative Community School o Police & Fire: Kate Kimble o Senior: Mary Ontiveros o Youth: Delaney McNally o Award Ceremony Timeline  Tuesday, December 3 3:15 pm – Set up (Colleen, Sean, Eva) 4:00-4:30 – Food/social 4:30 start – Mayor speaks Julia & Hannah speak Alma – keynote speaker Johanna – Vic Compass – Eva Kate – Phil Mary – Wendy Delaney – Colleen Marcille Award – Emily Gorgol  Vic will send letters to award winners, their nominators and to those who were nominated but did not win  Colleen will coordinate food  Women’s Commission is updating the program HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING: 11/14/19 11/14/2019 – MINUTES Page 3 o Work Plan 2020 Adjustments  Suggested add-ons Community Dinners, Student Liaison, Collaboration with other groups  2020 Work Plan due to City Council Jan/Feb 2020 Will vote on changes at the January 2020 meeting  Suggestion to add bullets to:  Executive Committee – support for our by-laws and continue to ask for student liaison  Community Committee – strengthen communications  Education Committee – Plan and deliver educational opportunities to include city employees & volunteers o OLD BUSINESS o Periodic Review  January 9, 2020 o City of Fort Collins – Principles of Community & Response to Racism/hate  Carol Thomas stated that Darin Atteberry and Wade Troxell have not met with Mary Ontiveros but will be meeting with Joyce McConnell, President of CSU  Julia will reach out in December for additional clarification and restate the desire of the HRC to have representation at both this meeting and in the development of Principles of Community o HRC finances – plan for spending additional funds in 2019  Motion was made by Phil Walker to spend $500 to purchase from World Trust the curriculum - Transforming White Privilege: 21st Century Leadership Capacity. Second by Wendy True. Vote 8-0  Will look into if the City will be taping the HRC Awards Ceremony gratis, as they did last year. If not, we will consider paying to have this done.  HRC needs to look into upgrading their pamphlets, banner and continue the practice of providing name tags to all members o Thank you to Colleen Conway.  Chairperson Julia Mackewich thanked Colleen for her 8 years of service and dedication to the Fort Collins HRC  Liza from the Women’s Commission is reformatting the programs HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING: 11/14/19 11/14/2019 – MINUTES Page 4 o HRC’s Periodic Review: 11/14/19  CC Emily Gorgel will come to the 11/14 meeting to discuss our review questionnaire o ADJOURNMENT o Motion to adjourn was made by Colleen Conway. Second by Eva Amason. Vote to approve: 8-0.
