Six were regular meetings and seven were special Competitive Process-related meetings. Two funding cycles were held this year, spring and fall. The Commission held four evening meetings during the spring cycle to listen to presentations by housing and public service applicants and one evening meeting to make funding recommendations to Council. During the fall funding process, the Commission met one evening to listen to presentations by affordable housing applicants and one evening to make funding recommendations to Council. During the regular meetings the Commission discussed the four funding sources: federal CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) programs, the City’s Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) and Human Service Program (HSP), and wrote a support letter for the City’s BFO process requesting increased HSP funds to help cover the $600,000 gap in funding availability to requests. They reviewed the funding process and discussed the status of some grantees. A presentation was provided as an update on affordable housing issues. The Commission provided recommendations to City Council as to the allocation of the City’s FY2016 CDBG and HOME entitlement grants, CDBG and HOME program income, AHF, HSP and KFCG funds. Funding requests were greater than available dollars so not all proposals submitted were funded.
