Meeting Minutes
Location: CIC Room, City Hall West, Fort Collins, Colorado 80521

Present: Kimberly Allison, Colleen Conway, Johanna Ulloa Girón, Jimena Sagas, Victor Smith
Joseph Somodi and Nancy Tellez
• Absent: Susan Mathre
Guest Presenter: Janet Freeman – Fort Collins Equity and Inclusion Coordinator
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m.
Agenda Review: The meeting agenda was unanimously approved.
Approval of Minutes: The meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
Special Input: Council Member Bob Overbeck acknowledged the HRC work and dedication.
Public Input:
• Carol Thomas was introduced as the Equal Opportunity & Compliance Manager for the City.
• Chris J. Johnson – Executive Director, Bike Fort Collins spoke about striving for a community bike
culture with social inclusion and no barriers in our city.
Guest Presentation:
• Janet Freeman – Fort Collins Equity and Inclusion Coordinator portrayed her position with the City of
Fort Collins promoting inclusion and equity for residents and visitors.
Discussion Topic:
• HRC 2018 Work Plan Revisions are due in September; any changes may be sent to Colleen for completion.
• FoCo Speaks Out. The tentative summary of events was presented and marketing was discussed.
• The Annual Awards Ceremony. Proposed changes to the nominee Information form and awards were
discussed.
• Human Right to Water Panel. A request has been made for the HRC to recommend a panel member. The
recommendation was made.
• The Aurora HRC has expressed an interest to collaborate with Colorado HRCs to plan a Symposium for
summer of 2018.
• Options for 2018 EOC plans were discussed.
• Jimena suggested moving the Committee Reports to the top of agenda and removing the Work Session
Report.
• Jimena asked commission members to monitor relevant issues, including community comment, at City
Council meetings and take notes.
Closing: A motion to adjourn was unanimously approved at 7:37 p.m.
The Next HRC meeting will be Thursday September 14, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the CIC Room, City Hall West.
