HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 07/12/2017City of Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board MINUTES Wednesday, July 12, 2017 11:30 a.m. Fort Collins Senior Center 1200 Raintree Drive Fort Collins, Colorado 80526 Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity y to the Fort Collins City Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community. Board Members Present: Suzanne King, Nancy Luttropp, Myles Crane, Gregory Wells, Dhara Rose, Diane Smith, Sarah Schilz Staff Present: Ashley Ruffer Speaker(s) and Guests: Absent: I. Call to Order II. Guest introductions III. Administrative Items a. Attendance b. Approval of Minutes –Myles noted a change of wording. Myles 1st , Diane 2nd approved c. Correspondence -none d. Update on SAB Activities of the last month-Sarah emailed PAFC information and met with Senator. Greg-attended meeting for affordable housing last week, speaker Alison Haed from Loveland affordable housing. IV. Public Participation IV. Speakers 11:45 am None 12:15 pm None V. Ongoing projects a. Senior Housing Infographic i. Checklist progress-Diane passed out infographic and checklist, finding out from the city how to approve infographic. ii. Builders / seniors editions b. Follow-up on the Firehouse Alley Financing i. Comments from community meeting with Mike Bekstead-Dhara, Wendy and Myles attended meeting. Diane also attended the city council meeting. ii. MAX involvement-Diane presented letter that was not sent, but had the right wording. Diane suggested to write a letter to the City of Fort Collins stating that it wasn’t a transparent process and frightened citizens. It was suggested that SAB approach the Coloradoan about having a senior column. It was decided not to. It was suggested that Council member Ken Summers be our next speaker/guest. Diane will clean up the letter and send into the Coloradoan as a private citizen. V. Updates a. Senior Transportation Coalition - Diane Smith b. City of Fort Collins Affordable Housing, 1st Thursday, 4 pm, City Hall; Greg Wells c. City of Fort Collins Transportation, 3rd Wednesday, 6 pm, 215 N. Mason community room, Suzanne King asked to be off the list. Jason may attend. Myles went to Next50 networking meeting. d. PAFC steering committee: Myles Crane-meeting soon e. PAFC – Housing, Nancy Luttropp-Village Concept, getting age certified f. PAFC culture of aging committee-none g. PAFC health and wellness committee-Myles h. LCOA – need current SAB member as liaison-Katie, Nancy and Myles will be at meeting. i. Bridging the Gap 9/27/17; 3:00-5:30 pm; the Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board is the official host agency this year, so please plan to attend and assist. Save the date email just went out. VI. New Business – Brief Discussion of Any Issues of Concern a. Education -Myles thanked the group for engagement. Larimer County Senior Education Group had many distinguish speakers. Myles in now certified. Myles found a study on aging that has great benefits, he will send an email with information. Joann Ginal would be a good speaker. b. Outreach -Suzanne sent Katie an email about a new possible guest Chris Wolfe about FEMA preparedness. Symposium at the ranch in Oct. c.
