HomeMy WebLinkAboutCommission On Disability - Minutes - 09/14/2017COMMISSION ON DISABILITY Fort Collins City Hall: Council Information Center 12:15 p.m. Thursday, September 14th, 2017 Present: Leslie Efird, Hettie Hueber, Terry Schlicting, Sherri Reichow, Marilee Boylan , Michael Marr Absent: John Morris, Jan Barela-Smith, Rustin Hughes City: Carol Thomas, Melina Dempsey Guests: Call to Order: 12:20 p.m. 1. Introductions: 2. Approval of Minutes: August-Minutes passed, Marr moved to approve Reichow seconded. 3. Open Discussion: a. Boylan passed out two fliers to the commission. The first for a celebration for Inspiration Playgrounds installation of the accessible changing tables. This will be happing Wednesday, September 27th 6pm- 8pm at Inspiration Playground. Spring Canyon Park, 2626 West Horsetooth Road. The second an Invitation to a Legislative Breakfast Town Hall Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Aztlan Center 112 Willow St. Fort Collins 7:00 a.m. b. Shlicting had a question for discussion about the crosswalks at W Pikin St. and at W Lake St. both do not have audio signals for visually impaired CSU students that use the Max. Thomas is going to make Brittany Sorensen aware of this issue. c. Discussion on Shlicting and Marr’s experience with the New West Fest. If any changes where made and why some things did not happen as hoped. Reichow suggested a formal written request to the City for changes. Shlicting and Thomas will have an After Action meeting with City officials. 4. New Business: a. Dempsey, Transit Planner from Transfort gave the COD a progress update on Bus Stop upgrades for the 2017/18 year. She told of future plans, challenges, where the funds come from and potential upgrades for the future. Transfort hopes to be more transparent about any changes being made. 55% of the Stops in Fort Collins are now ADA complaint. She asked for input on Stops from the commission. b. Discussion on Sunday/Holiday service with Dial-A-Ride and Dial-A-Taxi. The questions that where posed are, did service get cut using Dial-A- Taxi, Can you still call on Sunday to get a ride on Sunday, Can you still use Taxi vouchers and is the voucher services getting cut? 5. Unfinished Business: a. Work Plan-The COD brainstormed on ideas for changes we would like to see for our 2018 Work Plan. The changes will be implemented and sent out to member’s approval and for any edits that need to be made. It will be approved by email and sent to the City. b. Mayors Awards -The commission had a brief discussion about the want for more nominees and a reminder of the subcommittee meeting on September 28th to select winners and to finish any final details. 6. Community News and Updates: Schlicting moved to adjourn. Reichow seconded. Meeting adjourned at 2:17 pm. Submitted by Leslie Efird
