Present: Colleen Conway, Myles Crane, Johanna Ulloa Giron, Joseph D. Leske, Jimena Sagas, Preety
Sathe, Victor Smith, Nancy Tellez and Mary Vivo.
Absent: None
Guest Presenters: John McKay – Director Language, Culture and Equity – Poudre School District; Sandra
Smyser – Superintendent – Poudre School District (Absent)
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m.
AGENDA REVIEW
The meeting agenda was unanimously approved.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The October meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
PUBLIC INPUT
There was no public input.
GUEST PRESENTATION
John McKay. Topic: Equity and inclusion in Poudre School District. Sandra Smyser, Superintendent of
Poudre School District was unable to attend.
DISCUSSION TOPICS
The 2017 Revised Work Plan was unanimously approved.
The Awards Ceremony was discussed. Categories: Youth, adult, senior, police and emergency services,
organization non-profit. Awards Ceremony will be Dec 6, 2016, 4:00 p.m. in the CIC Room.
Human Rights Proclamation plan was discussed. Joseph Leske will accept the proclamation.
Cancellation of the December meeting was unanimously approved.
An HRC retreat and training was discussed and will possibly occur in January, 2017.
A donation for a maximum of $300 to Fuerza Latina to support an informational event about future
political changes was unanimously approved.
COMMITTEE REPORTS / EVENTS / ANNOUNCEMENTS
A meeting to discuss the presidential election outcome for those feeling unsafe will be held Saturday
November 19th from 1 – 3 p.m. at an undecided venue (this meeting will not be hosted by the HRC.).
HRC expressed appreciation and bid farewell to Myles Crane, Joseph D. Leske, Preety Sathe and Mary
Vivo for their last commission meeting. New commission members will join January, 2017.
CLOSING
A motion to adjourn was unanimously approved at 7:44 p.m.
The Next HRC meeting will be Thursday, January 12th at 5:30 p.m. in the CIC Room, City Hall West.
