HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 03/14/2018City of Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board MINUTES Wednesday, March 14, 2018 11:30 a.m. Fort Collins Senior Center 1200 Raintree Drive Fort Collins, Colorado 80526 Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity y to the Fort Collins City Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community. NOTE: Light lunch will be provided. Board Members Present: Wendy True, Sarah Schilz, Suzanne King, Janet Sanders, Nancy Luttrop, Myles Crane Staff Present: Ashley Ruffer, Lisa Hays Speaker(s) and Guests: Cyndy Luzinski Dementia Friendly Communities Absent: Darha Rose excused, Jason Brabson excused I. Call to Order II. Guest introductions III. Administrative Items a. Attendance b. Approval of Minutes c. Correspondence d. Update on SAB Activities of the last month i. City Plan Reveal was attended by numerous SAB members ii. State of the City iii. IV. Public Participation: guests introduced – V. Speakers 11:45 am Cyndy Luzinski Dementia Friendly Communities 30 minutes Dementia Friendly Communities Power Point Presentation – B Sharp, B Social, B Generous, Memory Café’s, Life enrichment visiting kittens. Working on educating and including as many businesses as possible with continued presentations VI. Board Member Officer Vote – Unanimous vote for the following officer’s a. Chair-Sarah Schilz b. Vice Chair-Myles Crane c. Secretary-Suzanne King d. Myles will be drafting a change to the SAB By-Laws to reflect the annual vote will be done in March instead of July so that SAB’s election is consistent with the B&C Manual. VII. Ongoing projects a. March 21, via van or carpool, and attend lunch with select legislators; RSVPs turned in to Office on Aging; Carpool plans were made. b. Speaker suggestions and discussion i. Update on who to ask a. Sarah contacting suggested guests from last meeting b. Additional suggestions – Alzheimer’s Director, Metro District Representative ii. Funnel speaker ideas and invitations through Katie VIII. Updates a. Senior Transportation Coalition - Jason Brabson; absent b. City of Fort Collins Affordable Housing, 1st Thursday, 4 pm; Greg Wells c. City of Fort Collins Transportation, 3rd Wednesday, 6 pm, 215 N. Mason community room - Jason Brabson -- d. PAFC steering committee: Myles Crane – e. PAFC – Housing, Nancy Luttrop- Currently no affordable assisting living, working with corporations to possibly help subsidize housing, Lifelong housing certification program, Nothing yet for Manufactured housing f. PAFC culture of aging committee- g. PAFC health and wellness committee-Myles – 1) SDVT Mental Health and wellness study. h. Other – Wendy – Will submit CSU input 2) Wendy is now the ambassador for City Plan, will be attending training and conducting focus groups. VI.
