Meeting Minutes
Location: CIC Room, City Hall West, Fort Collins, Colorado 80521
Council Liaison: Council Member Bob Overbeck
Staff Liaison: Director of Social Sustainability Beth Sowder
Recorder: Jayne A Smith
Present: Colleen Conway, Johanna Ulloa Giron, Susan Mathre, Jimena Sagas, Joseph Somodi and Nancy Tellez
• Absent: Kimberly Allison, Victor Smith and Laura Vetrano
Guest Presenter: No guest presenter
Call to Order: Meeting called to order at 5:37 p.m.
Agenda Review: The meeting agenda was unanimously approved.
Approval of Minutes: The meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
Public Input: There was no public Input
Discussion Topic:
• Work Session Notes were reviewed.
• The Community Event Fort Collins Speaks Out including its planning and purpose were discussed.
⁰ Motion and unanimous approval to support Joseph Somodi’s proposed outline and early
planning stage for the 2017 EOC community event.
• 2018 larger event bringing Dr McIntosh to Fort Collins for a 3-day event was discussed. Vote on memo
to City Council/City as drafted by Susan was tabled until next meeting August 10th.
• Book Discussion: Privilege, Power and Difference As time was limited Jimena Sagas volunteered to
share her home at a future date for an in-depth discussion.
• Government Relations Committee: Jimena will send out a Google Doc for sign up of commissioners
to watch and review various City meetings including City Council meetings and report to HRC for better awareness
regarding citizens of Fort Collins concerns and activities.
• Various Community and upcoming Fort Collins Events were reported.
Closing
A motion to adjourn was unanimously approved at 7:19 pm
The Next HRC meeting will be Thursday August 10, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. in the CIC Room, City Hall West
