HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018 - Cultural Resources Board - Work PlanCultural Resources Board 2018 Work Plan CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD INTEGRITY STATEMENT The Cultural Resources Board is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in our work and service to the City of Fort Collins and the community. To that end, we have adopted the following tenants as part of our operational culture: A commitment to be personally responsible and inspire responsibility in one another To work with openness and learning, not to cast blame or resentment To effectively and honestly communicate, even in challenging times To actively listen and empathize, befriending feelings without blame To work transparently, revealing rather than concealing To make good agreements and keep them, and change those that aren’t working A commitment to serve, with the very best intensions, the City of Fort Collins, the community and each other in all aspects of our work. STRATEGIES TO ACHIEVE THE OVERARCHING GOAL AND STRATEGIC PLAN 1. Leverage available resources to the Board in forwarding the OAG. • Establish a sub committee to review and make recommendations for updates to the Fort Fund guidelines and procedures for 2018. • Ensure Fort Fund dollars support the overarching goal of “making Fort Collins a cultural center and destination,” encourage increased participation in arts and culture, and have a positive impact on the local economy. • Work with Convention and Visitors Bureau on marketing and cultural tourism strategies including the promotion of CSD programs and events, Fort Fund recipient activities, and all arts and cultural programs and opportunities in the community. • Encourage grantees to effectively market their events and activities in collaboration with Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as other local marketing and outreach efforts. 2. Serve as a catalyst for the development of Fort Collins as a cultural center and destination by working with City Council, staff and cultural groups. • Support, encourage, and participate in all aspects of the Arts and Culture Master Planning process to help create a community vision for arts and cultural development. • Stay apprised of arts and cultural programs and opportunities throughout the community for possible collaboration and support. 3. Enhance awareness of Fort Collins’ arts and cultural events and activities. • Encourage and promote the Carnegie Center for Creativity as a community resource and hub for innovation. • Explore strategies for increased promotion of Fort Fund events. • Encourage Fort Fund recipients to broaden their promotional reach. • Develop appropriate credit and final report requirements for Fort Fund recipients to help promote the program and better inform the CRB. 4. Encourage networking opportunities for the exchange of ideas and resources. • Explore opportunities for Board and Staff to interact with the following groups to foster increased awareness of arts and culture in Fort Collins. These groups include, but aren’t limited to: o Arts and Culture Master Plan committees and task forces o Art in Public Places Board o Visit Fort Collins o Downtown Business Association o The Creative District • Explore strategies and opportunities to Increase awareness of professional development and networking opportunities for grantees and the arts and cultural community. 5. Work within the Arts and Cultural Master Plan process to identify marketing and cultural tourism strategies for Fort Collins as a cultural destination. 6. Hold an annual Board retreat.
