Present: Kimberly Allison, Coleen Conway, Victor Smith, Joseph Somodi, Nancy Tellez and Laura Vetrano.
Absent: Susan Mathre, Jimena Sagas and Johanna Ulloa Giron
Guest Presenters: Beth Bruno – A Face to Reframe
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
AGENDA REVIEW
The meeting agenda was unanimously approved.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The November meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
PUBLIC INPUT
There was no public input. Citizen Tom Shoemaker observed.
GUEST PRESENTATION
Beth Bruno, the Founder and Director of A Face to Reframe gave a presentation about human trafficking in Larimer County
with a focus on youth, high school age community members, and anti-trafficking efforts.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW COMMISSION MEMBERS
To acquaint new and existing HRC members, introductions were made. New HRC members in attendance were Kimberly
Allison, Joseph Somodi and Laura Vetrano. New member Susan Mathre was absent.
To help orient new members, Chair Smith presented general information about the HRC including the organizational
structure, standing committees, and the role of the HRC.
DISCUSSION TOPICS
Planning for the 2017 Retreat was summarized.
Commissioners discussed the types of cases accepted for City sponsored Community Mediation. Chair Smith will arrange
informational presentations to the HRC and explore options for possible recommendations.
The Sanctuary City movement was discussed. Members will research the possibility of hosting an informational session re:
options for cities.
A question about whether social media had been used to publicize HRC projects prompted a discussion re: promotional
methods used for HRC events.
CLOSING
A motion to adjourn was unanimously approved at 7:04 p.m.
The Next HRC meeting will be Thursday, February 9th at 5:30 p.m. in the CIC Room, City Hall West.
