HomeMy WebLinkAboutYouth Advisory Board - Minutes - 03/04/2015MINUTES REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4TH, 2015 YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD DATE: Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 LOCATION: Edora Pool Ice Center, 1801 Riverside Avenue TIME: 5:40 – 6:47 p.m. Present: Suraj Renganathan, Betsy Pruznick, Mohini Tangri, and Calvin Yingling Absent: Thomas Long, Nathan Welch, Nela Mohan, Megan Nibbelink, and Timiry McCassell Staff Present: Marc Rademacher, Megan Greer Guests: None 1). Meeting called to order by Suraj Renganathan at 5:40 pm. 2). Approval of Minutes: Calvin moved to approve the minutes, Betsy seconded. 3). Chairman’s Report: Discussed past meeting, talked about Public Forums on Climate Action Plan. Marc may get someone who is on the Climate Action team to come and speak to the Board. 4). Other Business ● Affordable Housing Strategic Plan Update o The City Council is asking for feedback when the Board looks into this. The YAB discussed ways to increase the supply of rooms as well as the U+2 ordinance. This ordinance affects the students more than it affects the real estate agents who voted on it. o Suraj asked if the Board is in support of a letter to revisit the U+2 ordinance ▪ Calvin, Betsy, Mohini­­The ordinance should be revisited ▪ Suraj­­The ordinance should not be revisited o Calvin will write a letter for the City Council. 5). Megan Greer gave the Board a tour of the Edora Facilities 6) Continuation of Other Business ● Notice of protest of smoking ban ● Tax Plans B.O.B. o Dollar breakdown for Poudre River, intersection improvements, Southeast community center, affordable housing fund, Lincoln avenue, City Park Train, Club Tico renovations o Budget every year is 500 million ● Upcoming Municipal Election: Discussed Ballot Issues­­cleanup ordinances, voter signing petition more than once, etc ● How can the Board get involved in PSD programs? o PSD Think Tank? o Calvin says that there is not enough in regards to showing people what is possible for their futures, career wise ▪ Senior Exit Interview o Will think of more ways. 7). Adjournment: Calvin motioned to adjourn at 6:47 p.m., Betsy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously passed.
