HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014 - Air Quality Advisory Board - Work PlanAir Quality Advisory Board 2014 Work Plan November 26, 2013 Purpose The Air Quality Advisory Board (AQAB) will advise the City Council on matters pertaining to the policies, plans, programs, and ordinances to improve the City’s air quality and to coordinate closely with and advise other city boards, city staff, and regional authorities on air quality issues. Major focus for 2014 1. Review and recommend revisions to greenhouse gas reduction goals, the Energy Policy, Community Sustainability Plan, Bike Plan, Transportation Plan, and the Climate Action Plan. 2. Identify community and regional development decisions and actions that may adversely affect city air quality/climate change and recommend actions to mitigate impacts. 3. Better understand how the City intends to rigorously assess air quality impacts of development projects. 4. Conduct a community air quality information forum to enhance public knowledge and to encourage public participation in addressing city air quality issues. 5. Better understand how city policy is codified. Explore the practical implementation of adopted air quality policy through the Development Review Process, Land Use Code, Building Codes, and other city rules and regulations. 6. Establish more effective two-way communication with City Council. 7. Broaden communications and collaboration with the Transportation Board, Energy Board, and Natural Resources Advisory Board on air quality/climate change issues. 8. Establish direct, cooperative working relationships with pertinent county, regional, and state air quality organizations. 9. Collaborate with internal and external experts on air quality issues.
