HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014 - Affordable Housing Board - Annual ReportAffordable Housing Board 2014 Annual Report The following lists the major items the Affordable Housing Board was involved with during 2014: 1. Competitive Process for Allocating City Funds for Affordable Housing: The Board worked with the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Commission in advising the City Council on the funding for affordable housing projects in the spring and fall cycles of the competitive process. The Board reviewed 5 applications in the spring cycle and6 applications in the fall cycle and made recommendations to the CDGB Commission. The boards also worked with staff and consultants in reviewing the competitive process and discuss possible improvements to the process. 2. Land Bank Program – The AHB toured the properties of the Land Bank Program and began the process of evaluating when the time might be right to sell the parcels for affordable housing development. 3. The board sent memorandums or emails to City Council regarding the following matters:  Support for fee waivers for the Fort Collins Housing Authorities’ Redtail Ponds permanent supportive housing project  The top 3 priorities for the City of Fort Collins  Promoting Transfort changes that increase service and connectivity, and encouraging specifically adding night service, Sunday service and extending the entire service area  Supporting various BFO offers  Encouraging the passage of the Foothills Mall agreement addendum  Supporting the Ethics Review Board Code amendment  Supporting the assignment of the 2014 Private Activity Bond allocation to the Fort Collins Housing Authority for use in the renovation of Cunningham Corners  Promoting transit oriented development. 4. Housing Affordability Policy Study – The AHB acted in an advisory capacity to assist staff and consultants with the Housing Affordability Policy Study. Board members attended stakeholder meetings, public Open Houses, City Council work sessions and held a special public meeting specifically to allow further input on the study. The board will continue to be involved in the implementation of any study recommendations that move forward through the process. 5. The AHB began planning and preparation for the next 5 year housing strategic plan. 6. The AHB consulted with the Commission on Disability and conferred on ways to work closer together in the future. 7. The AHB was briefed on issues such as accessory dwelling units and neighborhood plan updates. 8. Board Retreat - The AHB held its first retreat at the Museum of Discovery on February 6, 2014. 9. 2015 Work Plan. The Board worked to complete a work plan for the year 2015.
