Call to Order: 12:24
1. Introductions
2. Approval of March Minutes: Schlicting moved to approve. Devereux
seconded.
3. Open Discussion:
a. A plaque was presented to Jeff Coon for appreciation of his work on the
Commission on Disability for the past five years.
b. Devereux gave information on the new Yellow Cab Dial-a-Ride in Fort
Collins.
c. Bob Overbeck informed the commission about the use of ADA for
twenty-five years in Fort Collins. Would the commission want to bring
more awareness about ADA?
d. Welcome Sherri Reichow to the COD as a new commission member,
taking over Jeff Coon’s position.
4. New Business:
a. Emma Belmont spoke about Fort Collins bus stop design standards and
guidelines, ADA access and improved passenger amenities. Schlicting will
draft a letter to the City Council about improving a faster time line for the
bus stops to be upgraded and giving the COD’s support to improvements
needed. The letter will be sent out for commission member feedback and
approval for the May COD meeting.
b. Mike Gebo talked about the review of new building codes for 2015.
A117.1 is the code used in the city. Mr. Gebo invited any of the members
of the COD to sit in on the code review committee. He will bring the issue
of the need for roll-in showers to the to the review committee.
c. Chief Hutto’s visit discussed.
5. Old Business:
a. COD work plan- Luna gave an over view of the work plan.
b. Reichow brought up the idea of a reinvented Person-First festival and
the CODs involvement. This will be tabled for a future meeting.
6. Adjourn:
Schlicthig moved to adjourn. Luna seconded.
