1. Introductions (5 minutes)
2. Approval of August Meeting Minutes (5 minutes)
Motion to Approve – Devereaux, Second – Robinson , Pass – Unanimous
3. Open Discussion General Public (10 minutes)
Knight reported that the improvements made at the Harmony and Lemay intersection
were good, but notes that there still needs to be some kind of warning that there is a
transition to the street itself.
4. New Business (90 minutes)
a. Trail Study 2012 – Craig Foreman, CoFC
Foreman reported that the Trail Study is intended to see how well our current trail system
is meeting the current needs of the community. It will also to identify what
improvements could serve future needs. Outreach is conducted by trail count surveys and
on-line surveys. They are tracking the following:
• Management
• Usage
• Condition
• Connectivity
• Environmental Sensitivity
• Safety
• Etiquette of Users
• Need for New Signage
• Accessibility
and more. So far there have been volunteers at 10 different locations during different
times and days. An interesting note is they are seeing more bikes than pedestrians during
the weekend days. All findings will be brought to various Boards and Commissions
throughout October and November. They will take their findings to the City Council
during their work session on December 11
th
. The finalized report should be available in
January 2013
b. Legislative Breakfast Forum – Jeff Coon
Robinson will be in attendance as ARC is a sponsor of Foothills Gateway.
c. Disability Awareness Month – Wendie Robinson
Robinson reminded COD members that October is Disability and Disability Employment
Awareness Month. Be aware that there are more activities scheduled for this month in
acknowledgement. Check newspapers, websites and local calendars for a listing. She
mentioned that ARC celebrates March as Developmental Disability Month. COD agreed
it would be best for Foothills Gateway and ARC to ask for a proclamation signing by the
Mayor, to keep these different entities separate.
McDonnell has been in contact with the Clerk’s office. She will be signing the
proclamation. Coon will accept.
d. Boards and Commissions Collaboration Forum – Jeff Coon
Coon reported that many City Boards and Commissions are reaching out to each other for
collaboration, thus the Forum. He will attend to represent the COD.
5. Old Business (15 minutes)
a. Letter to Affordable Housing Commission – Jeff Coon
After input from COD members this letter has been sent.
b. Disability Pride Festival – Mike Devereaux

c. Elder Abuse Forum – Myles Crane, Human Relations
Commission
Crane provided a handout for the event outlining the agenda.
d. Mayor’s Awards Nominees – Hettie Hueber
All nominations were thoroughly reviewed, discussed and voted upon. All votes were
unanimous.
