SUBJECT: 2011 NRAB Annual Report.
In 2011, the City of Fort Collins Natural Resources Advisory (NRAB) held 12 regular meetings, during
which 39 agenda items were considered, 10 actions were taken, and 6 memoranda were sent to the City
Council.
Liz Pruessner and Glen Colton were elected chair and vice-chair respectively. Three NRAB members
served as representatives on the Bicycle Advisory Committee, the West Nile Virus Task Force and the
Green Building Advisory Task Force. The Board welcomed new member Andrew Newman in January.
Table 1 outlines NRAB activities in 2011.
Our big project for the year was researching and writing the Cache la Poudre River Initiative White Paper
and presenting it to City Council in December. The presentations on the health of the Poudre River and the
preparation of the Cache la Poudre River Initiative White Paper by NRAB occupied most of the year.
Other actions taken during the year include commenting on the final version of Plan Fort Collins, the Green
Building Code, Electric Bikes on City Trails, Poudre River Floodplain Regulations and the Water Supply
and Demand Management Policy. We supported the Green Building Code changes and the changes to the
Poudre River Floodplain to restrict development in the floodplain. The NRAB had a productive year and we
look forward to another year of service on behalf of the environment.
