HomeMy WebLinkAboutYouth Advisory Board - Minutes - 04/03/2013YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES Regular meeting – April 3rd, 2013 6:30 p.m. Council Liaison: Aislinn Kottwitz Staff Liaison: Steve Budner, Recreation, 221-6861 Megan Greer, Recreation, 224-6032 Board Chairperson: Pranaya Sathe Board Members Present: Pranaya Sathe, Thomas Long, Nathan Welch, Sarah Pruznick, Patrice Quadrel Board Member Absent: Siyu Wu, Langston Stuckey, Natalie Pederson, Kelsey Hennig Staff Members Present: Megan Greer, Administrator – Recreation Department Guest(s) Present: Myles Crane from Human Relations Committee Call meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by President, Pranaya Sathe, at 6:38 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Minutes approved 5-0, moved by Nathan, seconded by Thomas. Introduction of new members No new members. Agenda Review: None Citizen Participation: No citizen participation. Chairman’s Report: No chairman’s report. Other Business: 1. Jobs of the Future event planning a. YAB is tentatively planning the event for November of 2013. b. The board agreed to include representatives from smaller businesses in addition to large corporations to increase support for the event. c. To efficiently and effectively contact businesses, members will schedule separate meetings to make phone calls. 2. Elections for new officers for the year of 2013-2014 were postponed. Siyu Wu expressed interest in the position of Chair; Sarah Pruznick in Vice-Chair; Patrice Quadrel and Langston Stuckey for Secretary. 3. YAB members decided to invite the new city council members to a meeting. 4. At the previous meeting, YAB discussed the possibility in completing service projects before summer. The following are potential options: a. The Kite Festival will be on April 28th at Spring Canyon Park. YAB members will be helping out with the kite fighting. b. Other options include Respite Care and Realities for Children. 5. COYAC is currently working on planning the Sotomayor event. The Chari, Pranaya Sathe, will update the board about the event as needed. 6. Recreation Update a. Registration for summer programs will open on May 2nd. b. Anyone can request to participate in the 4th of July parade. It will be the 100th anniversary of the Fort Collins Police Department. Adjournment: Thomas moved to adjourn at 7:23 p.m. and Sarah seconded. Respectfully submitted, The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 1st at 6:30 pm at North Aztlan Community Center, 112 E.
