Regular meeting – October 17th, 2012 6:30 p.m.

Call meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Kelsey Hennig, at 6:34 p.m.
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes approved 4-0, motioned by Nathan, seconded by Sarah
Introduction of new members
None
Agenda Review:
None
Citizen Participation:
Claire Thomas came to give a mini City Works session to explain the history and
workings of the Fort Collins government. Lauren Robinson is the staff liaison’s, Megan
Greer, new intern.
Other Business:
1. There is a Boards and Commissions Meeting October 29th from 5:30
to 8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Center. President, Pranaya Sathe, and Vice
President, Kelsey Hennig, should attend.
2. The Human Relations Commission’s Make It Stop Elder Abuse
Summit was October 22nd. Nathan, Sarah, and Langston went to
represent the YAB.
3. Claire Thomas came to give a presentation on the City’s history and
inner workings. This mini “City Works” session was a chance for YAB
members to better understand how the city government works.
4. The Boards and Commissions Annual Dinner will be Wednesday,
November 14th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center. YAB
members should RSVP to Megan Greer.
5. The City Council Budget Proposal Meeting was October 16th, Pranaya
Sathe went.
a. The original YAB goal was to speak about the cancellation of
PSD after school program funding.
b. The funding was restored and put in the budget proposal.
Instead, YAB members went to thank the City Council.
6. Sarah let the YAB members know about a retreat at CU-Boulder early
spring of 2013. More will be discussed at the next meeting. The

7. CoYAC Update: There is a Student Cam competition run by C-SPAN
that Pranaya will give more information to once she gets it.
8. YAB members considered making a brochure to explain the mission
and purpose of the Youth Advisory Board.
9. The work plan was discussed:
a. YAB members want to find a currently important issue to hold
an event for.
b. Some potential ideas included the legalization of marijuana,
teen drug use, and jobs after college and preparation.
c. Pranaya moved the discussion of the ideas until the next
meeting. Each YAB member should come with ideas to discuss.
Ajournment:
Kelsey moved to adjourn at 7:45 pm and Nathan seconded.
