Open Discussion General Public Franklin-Gaumer mentioned that Poudre Valley Hospital had a link on their website that contained information surrounding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and information on a celebration of the 20 year anniversary of the signing of the ADA. There was also information on where to obtain pamphlets that outline the content of the ADA. Hueber, the COD Historian, asked for contact information. She thought we should have some of the pamphlets handy for public awareness. Franklin-Gaumer identified Gary Kinsey, who handles “News of the Day” on the PVH website. His e-mail is glk@pvhs.org. 4. New Business a. City of Fort Collins Bicycle Safety Plan Matt Wempe is a City of Fort Collins employee in the Transportation Planning Department. He has been asked to oversee a project that will gather information and ultimately propose a Bicycle Safety Plan for Fort Collins. This plan must contain the 5 E’s: Education, Encouragement, Engineering, Enforcement and Evaluation. He is beginning with community outreach and is hoping to have some suggestions submitted to the City Council be December 2010. Some of the suggestions from the COD included: -Cyclists on shared trails should either have a bell, or clearly shout “On your left”, when passing pedestrians. -Better signage on trails. -Letters of awareness to the editors of local newspapers. -Bicycle safety pamphlets made available to the public. -Limiting speeds. -Better night lighting in parks and on paths. Matt will keep the COD informed. b. Election of COD Secretary Miller has been providing meeting minutes since May 2009, in the absence of Wiatrowski, who has asked to vacate her position on the COD. Coon nominated Miller, Hueber seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Miller will continue to record and produce COD minutes. 5. Old Business a. EPIC Bus Stop Sub-Committee and JFK Parkway No updates. b. Mayor’s Awards McDonnell provided nomination cards to COD members. She is working on the old mailing list to correct, update and alphabetize it. She hopes to bring the updated mailing list to the next subcommittee meeting on 8/26 so the labels can be placed on the cards and mailed. A press release will follow. The COD will vote in September on whether to have an October meeting, since the awards ceremony does not fall on the scheduled meeting day. 6. Adjourn: 1:42pm
