Staff Members Present: Megan Greer, Administrator – Recreation Department

Call meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Pranaya Sathe, at 6:30 pm.
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes approved 8-0, motion by Kelsey, seconded by Langston.
Introduction of new members
Agenda Review:
None
Citizen Participation:
None
Other Business:
a. Middle School pool party
1. Members ensured that all thank you cards went out to all donors of
the event including: Spooners Frozen Yogurt, $25 Plato’s Closet, $25
Paciagos Gelato & all Pizza places.
b. Crewz Control Hip Hop Workshop
1. We discussed what went well – great attendance, fun teachers
2. What could we improve – better crowd control at the meet and greet
c. Final meeting of the year – we will be meeting at Café Mexicali at 6:30 on
5/23.
d. YAB discussed some issues they would like to address in the 2012-2013
school year. They are below:
1. Underage drinking
2. Smoking just off school property and its effect on school’s neighbors.
3. Teen drug use & high school kids going to CSU parties
4. Under achievement, drop-out rates and uncommitted students and
solutions.
e. Finally YAB answered the questions for the City Council work session
scheduled for July 24 (listed below). Natalie will be representing YAB with
Megan Greer.
1. Where/When do we want to meet?
2. What should goals of 2012-2013 school year be for YAB?
e. Council Work Session July 24

– YAB needs to answer the questions on
the sheet provided and needs to be ready to address Council with the
following questions:
At the study session, Council review will consist of the following questions:
- What does the board do? (Current functions)
- Does the City need a board that does this?
- If so, should any of the duties of the board be changed?
- Can any of the duties of this board be consolidated with another board?
- Is the size of the board appropriate?
- Is the work done by the board beneficial and useful to the Council?
Next official meeting will on September 5, 2012 at Northside Aztlan Community
Center at 6:30 p.m.
Adjournment:
Pranaya moved to adjourn at 7:48 p.m. and Langston seconded.
