HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 - Affordable Housing Board - Annual ReportCity of Fort Collins - Affordable Housing Board 2012 Annual Report The Affordable Housing Board (AHB) continued with its affordable housing policy and support role during 2012. Board discussions and actions throughout the year stemmed from the premise that affordable housing is a critical component of the economic health, sustainability, and vitality of Fort Collins. The Board’s work was also in response to affordable housing’s high priority ranking in local citizen surveys and related research. The Board held nine regular meetings, and two special meetings (to priority-rank housing applications for the City’s spring and fall Competitive Process funding cycles). Major topics and agenda items for regular monthly meetings of the Affordable Housing Board included: 1) Reviewed the affordable housing proposals requesting financial assistance from the City and formulated priority rankings of the applications for the CDBG Commission and City Council. 2) Reviewed the draft of the HUD required Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice and conducted a joint work session with the CDBG Commission to provide comments and edits to the document. 3) Was updated on the process to relocate residents of the Bender Mobile Home Park which closed on April 1, 2012. 4) A sub-committee of the Board worked with staff to review and modify the Master Covenant for the Provincetowne Condominiums Affordable Housing Project for approval by the Federal Housing Administration. 5) Was updated on the development of the 2013-2014 Budgeting for Outcomes process and provided comments to the City Council. 6) Provided comments to staff on the issues related to Housing Authority Fee Waivers. 7) Received a series of updates on the process to develop a Student Housing Action Plan (SHAP) and provided comments to the City Council. 8) Receive an update on recent changes to the administration of CARE Housing. 9) Reviewed and amended the Board’s Bylaws. 10) Received an update on the Mason Corridor Plan (MAX). 11) Met with Lisa Poppaw, the Board’s City Council liaison. 12) Developed the Board’s 2013 Work Plan. 13) Participated in the Satisfaction with Staff Support Services Survey. 14) Had a discussion with Bryce Hach regarding the future of the Homeward 2020 project. 15) Was informed of the departmental reorganization and creation of the Social Sustainability Department. Affordable Housing Board members also function as liaisons to other Boards (Transportation, Planning and Zoning Board) and groups (Affordable Housing Coalition, Board of Realtors), thereby helping foster better communication and collaboration in areas interconnected to affordable housing.
