A quorum was not present. The February 19, 2009 meeting minutes were reviewed. Those in attendance approved them as presented. An official motion will be taken at the next meeting. Guests Joann Ginal and Elaine Boni, both of the Human Relations Commission introduced themselves and thanked the Commission for the opportunity to talk with them. The Human Relations Commission is hosting a community chat on May 201h at the Senior Center and would like the Women's Commission to be a sponsor. The HRC is approaching other community groups to serve as sponsors as well. The subject of the OWN community chat is elder abuse which occurs in senior care facilities as well as in private homes. The HRC feels that a sponsorship by the Women's Commission is appropriate, in part because the majority of residents in senior care facilities are women. The HRC will facilitate the community chat and take care of the marketing arrangements. They'd like representatives from the Women's Commission to attend. While a quorum wasn't present, those in attendance felt it was important to show their support and commitment to this important issue and this opportunity. Annette moved that the Women's Commission participate as a sponsor for the HRC's community chat on elder abuse. Barb seconded the motion. The motion passed. ,, v Elaine and Joann invited Women's Commission members to attend the plaruiing session for this community chat — the 2"d Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm in the SIC' -Room at 380+zPar-te. The Commission looks forward to reviewing updates to these results areas as well as the proposed funding recommendations later in the process.
