Regular Meeting - June 1, 2009

A regular meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held on June 1, 2009 in Municipal Court,
215 North Mason. Judge Kathleen M. Lane presiding.

Deputy City Clerk Jensen stated that there were no changes to the agenda.
Approval of Minutes
Judge Lane approved the minutes from May 18, 2009.
Request from Suehiro of Fort Collins, Inc., dba
Suehiro Japanese Restaurant to Change, Alter, or Modify the
Licensed Premises at 223 Linden Street, Approved
Edward Kendal, representative for Suehiro of Fort Collins, Inc., was present. He stated that the patio
will seat approximately 40 patrons, as well as an additional 40 patrons for the inside of the building.
Mr. Kendal stated he has received an encroachment permit from the City. He stated the patio fencing
is 4'h foot high wrought iron fencing. Mr. Kendal stated that they will likely keep the same hours.
Mr. Kendal briefly described the petitioning process. He stated he received many positive comments
in support of this application.
Al Duntun, owns the building across from 223 Linden Street. He stated he is very supportive of Mr.
Kendal's application. Mr. Duntun stated that there are eight liquor licenses on this one 300 foot
block of Linden.
Judge Lane approved the request from Suehiro of Fort Collins, Inc., dba Suehiro Japanese Restaurant
to change, alter, or modify the licensed premises at 223 Linden Street.

Registration of Jeffrey Hiroshi Nanbara as
Manager of Suehiro Japanese Restaurant,
223 Linden Street, Approved
Jeffrey Hiroshi Nanbara, stated he has been employed at Suehiro Japanese Restaurant for 14 years.
He stated he has not had recent training. Mr. Nanbara stated he supervises approximately 12
employees. He stated Mr. Kendal is responsible for training all employees. Mr. Nanbara stated
patrons that appear to be 30 years of age or younger are carded. He stated an employee knowingly
served an underage person, maybe suspended. Mr. Nanbara stated he continually emphasizes the
importance of following all liquor laws.
Judge Lane approved the registration of Jeffrey Hiroshi Nanbara as manager of Suehiro Japanese
Restaurant, 223 Linden Street.
Hearing on a New Application from Miramont Sports Center, Inc.,
for a tavern liquor license at Miramont Lifestyle Fitness, 901 Oakridge Drive, Approved

Registration of Shane P. Hunsinger as Manager of
Miramont Lifestyle Fitness, 901 Oakridge Drive, Approved
Shane Hunsinger, representative for Miramont Sports Center, Inc., was sworn. He stated he has been
managing Miramont Lifestyle Fitness for 6 years. Mr. Hunsinger stated the facility closes at 10:00
p.m. He stated it is not their intent to normally allow patrons to wander through the fitness areas
with an alcoholic beverage. Mr. Hunsinger stated they have many team members to monitor the
entire facility. He stated they are licensing the entire facility to allow flexibility in serving alcohol
at special events. Mr. Hunsinger stated anytime they will be serving alcohol, they will also be
serving food. He stated all the food service and pool staff will be TIP's trained. Mr. Hunsinger
stated any patron that appears to be under the age of 40 will be carded. He stated any employee
found in violation of the liquor code will be immediately terminated. Mr. Hunsinger stated he has
a current copy of the liquor code on premise.
Carol Johnson, representative for Esquire Petitioning, Inc., was sworn. She briefly described the
petitioning process. Ms. Johnson stated the results of this petition indicate strong support for this
application from the neighborhood.
Judge Lane adopted Resolution 2009-06 approving the application from Miramont Sports Center,
Inc., for a tavern liquor license at Miramont Lifestyle Fitness, 901 Oakridge Drive and approved the
registration of Shane P. Hunsinger as manager of Miramont Lifestyle Fitness, 901 Oakridge Drive.
