Absent: Karen Perry and Terry Schlicting City Liaison: Bruce Byrne and Jenna Stieben Guests: Anne Aspen & Paul Mills 1. Introductions 2. Call to Order 12:25 by Mare Franklin-Gaumer 3. Approval of Minutes Bev moved to approve the minutes. Sam seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Open Discussion General Public & Community News Topics included: Budgeting for Outcomes Mare asked Bruce for an update on the subcommittee meeting. Bruce submitted the recommendations and input from the COD subcommittee meeting on Budgeting for Outcomes. Mayor's Awards Mare and Jenna will meet with Mary Elizabeth Thursday, March 1.9, 2009 to prepare for the Mayor's Awards and update the mailing list. Jenna or Mare will Send mailing list in electronic form to Lydia. Poudre School District Disability Program Mare read in the local newspaper about a disability program through the Poudre School District. Michelle mentioned a couple programs currently available called SWAP & Association of Classified Employees (ACE). Mare is going to call the school district to inquire about the program and see what kind of input or help the COD can provide. 5. New Business Alley Master Plan Project: Anne Aspen presented on the program. This is a courtesy presentation to keep the COD updated and see if there are any concerns we may have. The Agenda included: Background Action Requested Overview of Master Plan Overview of priority Alleys Next Steps Q&A Paul provided an overview of the specific areas and the priority areas. Priority 1) alley behind the Aggie Theater and The Cupboard 2) alley located off of college 3) alley behind the Silver Grill. The project wants to create an environment friendly to pedestrians. Sample sections will be built and people will be invited to try out the new area to provide input on what is most easily accessible by pedestrians and people in wheelchairs. Creative Abilities Art Show Mare, Lydia and Jenna will research the show and develop a plan to host another Creative Abilities Art Show. United Way Volunteer Awards Jenna presented the United Way Volunteer Award categories. Nominations are due March 20, 2009. Categories Included: Volunteer Excellence Award Outstanding Volunteer Group Linda Nerger Youth Volunteer Excellence Award Senior Volunteer Excellence Award Bev nominated the original members of the Foundation on Aging. The original members are Betty Mosley and Mary Schultz. 6. Old Business Bev received a letter of apology from Felix Lee and shared it with the COD. The letter will be attached to the March 2009 minutes. The COD will discuss our expectations when we are asked to speak on behalf of the commission. Subcommittee Meeting to review cell phone, bike lane, and handicap parking letters be held Mar. 26t' 12:15pm — 2:00pm at the CIC. Meeting Adjourned at 2:07 p.m.
