Council Liaison: Ray Martinez 11 Staff Liaison: Aimee Jensen A regular meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held on October 4, 2004 in Municipal Court, Justice Center, 201 LaPorte. Judge Kathleen M. Lane presiding. Staff in attendance: Teresa Ablao, Assistant City Attorney Aimee Jensen, Deputy City Clerk Robert Younger, Liquor Enforcement Officer Agenda Review Deputy City Clerk Jensen stated there are no changes to the agenda. Hearing on a New Application from Kramerica Industries, Inc., for a Hotel -Restaurant Liquor License at La Luz Mexican Grill, 140 East Boardwalk, Approved Peter Schultz, representative for Kramerica Industries, Inc., was sworn. He briefly described his background, stating that he opened his first location May 28, 1998. Mr. Schultz stated alcohol is 2.6% of his gross sales. He stated he strictly adheres to liquor laws. Mr. Schultz stated his employees are required to card every patron ordering an alcoholic drink. He stated he has trained his employees to recognize visibly intoxicated employees. Mr. Schultz stated he will terminate any employee found in violation of the liquor code. He stated this location will be similar to the downtown location. In response to questions from the Authority, Mr. Schultz stated the entire patio is visible from inside. Mr. Schultz stated he will designate an employee to monitor the patio. He stated is responsible for training all the employees. Mr. Schultz stated he will obtain a current liquor code for both locations. Mr. Schultz briefly described the petitioning process and stated they he received many positive comments in support of this application. Judge Lane adopted Resolution 2004-14 approving the hotel -restaurant liquor license from Kramerica Industries, Inc., dba La Luz Mexican Grill, 140 East Boardwalk. October 4, 2004 Registration of Leslie Hill as Manager of La Luz Mexican Grill, 140 East Boardwalk, Approved Leslie Hill, manager applicant, briefly described her background. She stated she has been involved with the downtown location since it's opening. Judge Lane approved the registration of Leslie Hill as manager of La Luz Mexican Grill, 140 East Boardwalk. Show Cause Hearing for Son Tran and Kathy Doan, dba Creekside Liquors,1005 West Stuart Street, #A3, Stipulation Agreement Approved Stewart Olive, attorney representing Son Tran and Kathy Doan, stated they have attended Liquor Enforcement Officer Younger's training and that it has helped them better identify fake id's. Senior Assistant City Attorney Ablao summarized the stipulation agreement. She stated that the Licensee has agreed to a 15 day suspension, 5 days served (paid fine in lieu of suspension $1600), with 10 days held in abeyance for 1 year for violating C.R. S., 12-47-901 (1)(a. 5), permitting the sale or service of alcohol beverages to a person under the age of 21 years. Judge Lane approved the stipulation agreement as presented. Show Cause Hearing for Bullfrog Wine & Spirits, Inc., dba Bullfrog Wine & Spirits, 1624 North College Avenue, Motion Dismissed Senior Assistant City Attorney Ablao stated that the Licensee has agreed to extend the days held in abeyance from the 2003 violation to March 2005 in exchange for the City dismissing this current motion to show cause. Judge Lane approved the motion being dismissed. The meeting adjourned at 1:40 p.m. Adjournment 2 Municipal Judge
