SUBJECT: Natural Resources Advisory Board 2008 Work Plan

This memorandum presents the Natural Resources Advisory Board's (NRAB's) work plan for the year
2009. The NRAB will focus on the following related issues over the next year:
1) Community Sustainability
NRAB plans to lead the discussion of the community's sustainability plans and work with staff on the
city's internal sustainability goals. Develop key indicators to track and monitor community sustainability
goals.
2) Climate Action Plan
NRAB seems uniquely suited to work with all concerned on the implementation of the CTF
recommendations.
3) Solid Waste/Recycling
NRAB will continue to monitor the on -going efforts to significantly increase recycling and reduce solid
waste going into the land fill.
4) Energy Policy
NRAB will work with the Electric and Air Quality Boards on this on -going effort. Use of Green Energy
Funds and RECs will be part of the discussion as well as green job growth.
5) Water Resources
NRAB will continue to monitor and coordinate with staff and other boards' review of water related
projects and issues; e.g., NISP/Glade, Water Conservation Plan
6) Transportation
Work on regional and local issues in coordination with the Transportation and Air Quality Boards.
7) Other relevant upcoming Council Agenda items
