Those members attending were Wayne Sundberg, Jennifer Carpenter, Sally Ketcham, Michael Ehler and Carol Tunner. Staff was represented by Edwina Echevarria and Barbara Hendrickson. CACHE LA POUDRE RIFLEWORKS AND NORTH POODRE ARMS AND AMMUNITION CO. Mr. Sundberg brought the meeting to order and explained that the applica- tion before them tonight was a resubmittal of a denied application. He stated the applicant has worked to reduce the size of the signage and the dimensions changes are noted; from 12' to 10', from 48" to 38" and letter- ing has been reduced fran 6" to 4" and 12" to 8". Philip Frank, the applicant, showed the proposed lettering and coloring. Ms. Carpenter asked if all the letters are in yellow. Mr. Frank stated that the color appears bright up close, but once it is weathered, it doesn't glare very bad. He placed the sign up in his shop and from a distance of 60', it is easily read. Ms. Tunner asked about the different style of lettering. Mr. Frank stated the difference is due to the type of businesses. He deals with modern guns and uses the straight lettering and the italicized letter- ing is on the business card for the Rifleworks which deals in antiques. Ms. Carpenter asked if the sign is centered over the windows. Mr. Frank stated the joints in the facade panels are deceiving. He stated that he centered the sign on the building and should have centered it over the door. He asked if LPC needed a specific recommendation for the center- ing. He stated that originally the sign was to be bolted directly to the building but he now intends to use angle iron brackets, which is easier to install. Ms. Tunner asked far it will go in, as there is some type of historic facade. Mr. Frank was not sure, since there are holes on the facade and all they intend to do is put the lead plugs about 1 1/2" to 211. Ms. Tunner felt the height blends better with the Mountain Trader's sign. Mr. Frank stated the Mountain Trader sign (37"), is one inch shorter than theirs. LPC Special Meeting ay 20, 1987 • Page 2 Ms. Carpenter felt it should be centered over the storefront, as it looks off -centered. Mr. Ray stated that when he was drawing the building and sign, he split the building in half, instead of centering it. Mr. Ketcham moved to accept the revised application with the condition that the sign be centered over the storefront and contingent on iron anchor to fasten the sign to the modern facade, which is revised from the bolted sign. Mr. Ehler seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0. The meeting adjourned at approximately 6 p.m.
