HomeMy WebLinkAboutLandmark Preservation Commission - Minutes - 07/10/1991LOMARB PRESERVATION COMMAN Meeting Minutes July 10,1991 The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. at 281 North College Avenue. Members present included Rheba Massey, Jim Tanner, Prescott Handley, Rae Ann Todd, Ruth Weatherford, and Jennifer Carpenter. Bud Frick was absent. Staff was represented by Joe Frank. (Minutes were transcribed from audio tape by Kayla Ballard.) APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Weatherford made a motion to approve the June 5, 1991 minutes. Ms. Handley seconded the motion. The motion to approve passed 6-0. Ayes: Massey, Tanner, Weatherford, Handley, Todd and Carpenter. Nays: None. STAFF REPORT Mr. Frank distributed material prepared by the City Clerk's office for making appeals to decisions of boards and commissions. He stated that it was for public use, that the LPC is a board that passes final authority and their decisions can be appealed to City Council. Mr. Frank announced that the National Trust for Historic Preservation would have their annual conference in San Francisco, California. He encouraged the Commission to attend the conference at their own expense. CHAIRMAN REPORT Ms. Massey stated that on Wednesday, July 24, 1991 there would be a joint meeting of the LPC with the Parks and Recreation Board which would begin at 6:30 with a 1/2 hour social that will precede the meeting. She stated that if there were any specific issues that arise from that social, those issues would be discussed at the beginning of the meeting. She added that the main issues that she has outlined for this meeting was interface of how the boards could better communicate and know what the other boards are doing with such issues as the Roger's Barn and the Jefferson Street location for the Rhodes House. She added, however, that she would not be in attendance at that meeting. Ms. Massey stated that the Poudre River Heritage Corridor is an area of common interest. The LPC should communicate with them in regards to how the LPC operates, the LPC guidelines, and what areas the LPC governs. Mr. Frank stated that, included in their packets, was material regarding the proposed cultural plan process. He stated this was another area that the LPC could interface with other boards. He urged the Commission members to attend the July 15, 1991 meeting in the Ludlow Room at the Lincoln Center at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Handley asked if the Neon Works signage was approved to be placed in the window or on the building. She stated that it has been installed on the building and not in the window. Mr. Tanner stated that the Commission asked for additional information on the dimensions of the requested sign and to show how it would appear in the window. He has not seen this information. Mr. Frank stated that he would follow-up on this issue. Ms. Carpenter updated the Commission on the Montezuma Fuller multiple property designation. She stated that John Albright contacted her and stated that he had a student in the graduate department that would be interested in working on this designation. Ms. Carpenter stated that she discussed this with Ms. Massey and the Historical Society in Denver. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m. A worksession followed the meeting with CSC, consultants in the Historic Resources Preservation Program. Mr. Frick arrived for this discussion.
