Agenda Item 4 — Kathy Kregel Bioscience Cluster Presentation
Companies that research produce and distribute medical devices, instruments,
pharmaceuticals, and biofuels make up the Bioscience cluster.
The Bioscience industry in Northern Colorado:
-Consists of over 50 business employing nearly 600 employees
-Is strengthened by CSU's leadership in bioscience
-Includes Heska, Inviragen, Nanogen, Keeton Industries, PR Pharmaceuticals, Summit
Plant Laboratories, Wildlife Pharmaceutical, among others.
No decisions or recommendations to Council were made.
Agenda Item 5 — Kelly Peters/Mark Forsyth RM12 & Geotech Cluster Presentation
Northern Colorado has established it's self as leader in GIS with a number of innovative
and growing companies. As GIS technology continues to evolve, the GIS Cluster will
provide the focus and support to ensure Northern Colorado's continued leadership in
GIS.
Geotechnology is the Act of combining layers of information about a place to give you a
better understanding of location.
Ex:
Retailers use it to find best store locations
Governments use to analyze environmental damage
Entrepreneurs Use it to target their client's location
Governments use to detect crime patterns
