HomeMy WebLinkAboutRetirement Committee - Minutes - 01/28/1977• 0 Members Present: Members Absent: Others Present MINUTES CITY OF FORT COLLINS EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT BOARD MEETING HELD JANUARY 28, 1977 John Hartman, Jack Williams, and Warren Dalke- Phillip Shade and Ronald R. Wood Mayor Earl Wilkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Oran Bivens The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. on January 28, 1977, by the Board Chairman, John Hartman. Board members were presented with medical statements from two doctors regarding the physical condition of Oran Bivens. Mr. Bivens advised the board that he did wish to apply for the Disability REtirement Benefit - Lump Sum Alternative. After review of the medical statements and some discussion of disability, Jack Williams moved that they approve disability retirement for Oran Bivens as he met the criteria as stated in the retirement manual - " . . that the member is unable to engaged in any substantial gainful activity of a type related to that in which such member theretofore engaged by reason of any medical determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or to be of long -continued and indefinite duration." Warren Dalke seconded the motion and the motion passed by an unanimous vote. Discussion followed regarding the taxibility of the lump sum payment and medical insurance benefits. It was determined that the income would be taxable and Mr. Bivens advised that he would have insurance coverage for this medical problem until December 9, 1977. Jack Williams moved that the board grant the lump sum payment in the amount of $16,178.61. Warren Dalke seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Mayor Earl Wilkinson extended his thanks to Oran Bivens for his many years of dedication and good service to the City of Fort Collins. Meeting adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Ronald R.
