HomeMy WebLinkAboutRetirement Committee - Minutes - 01/13/1983GENERAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING ON JANUARY 13, 1983 MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: RON WOOD'S OFFICE Ronald R. Wood Don Botteron Deb McClurkin Mollie Mercer Angie Powell None The meeting of the General Employees' Retirement Committee on Jan. 13, 1983 was called to order by Don Botteron. Nominations were called for by Don Botteron for election of a Chairperson for the Retirement Committee. 1. Mollie Mercer nominated Don Botteron. 2. Seconded by Deb McClurkin. By unanimous vote, Don Botteron will act as Chairman for the Retirement Committee. Motion was made by Angie Powell that the chairmanship term be for a one (1) year period. Motion seconded by Deb McClurkin. Chairman Botteron made a motion that the Committee elect a Vice -Chair- person to act in the absence of the Chairman in all functions; motion seconded by Angie Powell. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Nominations were called for the position of Vice -Chairperson for the Retirement Committee. 1. Angie Powell nominated Deb McClurkin. 2. Seconded by Mollie Mercer By unanimous vote, Deb McClurkin will act as Vice -Chairperson for the General Employees' Retirement Committee. Ms. Powell moved that Retirement Committee Meetings be called for in the early afternoons. A retirement request for Ms. Annabelle Leo has been delayed until we can receive an Actuarial Equivalent of a Lump Sum, Yearly Sum, • and Quarterly Sum payments. (Her monthly payments are below $50/month. ) Notification to Ms. Leo of these alternatives. so Pete Dallow, Deputy Director of Finance, spoke to the Committee on the General Employees' Retirement Plan for the benefit of the new members. Discussion was had concerning the "Employees Personal Report" prepared by A. S. Hansen. Ms. Powell made a motion that A. S. Hansen, Inc., prepare the personal report to include a cover memo of explanation. Motion passed by majority vote of 4-1. Mr. Dallow also stated that A.S. Hansen suggests doing the actuarial report for the plan every other year. The cost of this report is $2,500. lrotion was made by Ron Wood, seconded by Chairman Botteron, that A. S. Hansen prepare an actuarial report for the General Employees' Retirement Plan dated January 1, 1983. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Dallow also discussed revised plan amendment of: • Disability has been eliminated in the new plan; has been picked up by the City's Insurance Program. No further action taken on the retirement plan at this time. The meeting scheduled for January 18th has been changed to January 25, 1983, at 1:30 p.m. in Ron Wood's Office for the determination of retirement benefits for Annabelle Leo and Martin Morgan; and for dis- cussion of any other old business.
