Wood None Don Mazanec Mike Powers The General Employees' Retirement Committee meeting of February 16, 1983, was called to order by Chairman Botteron. Regarding the matter of Ms. Elsie Marron (she is receiving an EarLy Retirement Benefit plus Disability Insurance), Mr. Mazanec stated he felt the matter was best Left as it is. Ms. Marron is not receiving an "off -set" disability payment right now, but Mr, Mazanec checked with Equitable in Denver, and they stated that they wero Looking into beginning to off -set disability payments when a person is also receiving payments under any kind of group sponsored plan. This might eventually affect the payments received by Ms. Marron. During review of the plan amendment changes, Mr. Mazanec stated that he was not aware that City Council, in 1982, deleted all provisions pertaining to disability under the retirement plan. He requested that copies of signed Resolutions Vs 3 & 4 be sent to him. Because of this, he will need to make some additional changes to his amendments and will forward these on to the Retirement Committee when completed. There was much discussion on whether or not employees should be aLLowed to choose an early retirement benefit when they are going to be applying for disability insurance. Ronald R. Wood made a motion that - "The board take aLL steps necessary to amend the current retirement plan so that no "retirement" benefits will be paid to individuals while they are receiving disability insurance payments. Upon termination of disability, then the plan will pay retirement benefits." Motion died for Lack of a second. After direction and consultation by Don Mazanec, Deb McCLurkin 40 made a motion that Don Mazanec draft an amendment allowing an employee, if eligible, to choose the option of early retirement with disability payments. Seconded by Ron 'Wood. Motion passed unanimously. On a motion by Chairman Botteron, seconded by Deb McCLurkin, the meeting was adjourned. APPROVED: 46 cc: City Manager I*
