Mr. Don Mazanec, A.S. Hansen
An informal meeting of the General Employees' Retirement Committee was
held on August 15, 1983 and was called to order by Don Botteron.
Purpose of the meeting was to follow up on discussions regarding cost -of -living
increases as well as the Actuarial Report submitted by A.S. Hansen. These items
were briefly discussed at a meeting held on July 21, 1983.
Don Mazanec of A.S. Hansen discussed long-term pension information as provided
in the Actuarial Report on Page 1. Mr. Mazanec answered questions as they
arose.
A discussion of cost -of -living increases took place. It was decided that a
Resolution be submitted to Council recommending a 5% increase for each year
retiree has been retired, with a maximum of 10%. Don Mazanec will write
specifications for the proposed Resolution and get in touch with Ron Wood.
September was the decided -upon target date for submitting the Resolution to
Council.
The idea of having a "money manager" for pension monies was discussed. It was
suggested by Don Mazanec that a policy statement be written. A.G. Edwards
writes up policy statements at no charge. Ron Wood will consider that suggestion
and get back with Don Mazanec.
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
