Wood's Office Don Botteron Deb McClurkin Mollie Mercer Ron Wood Angie Powell A meeting of the General Employees' Retirement Committee was held on December 16, 1983. The meeting was called to order by Deb McClurkin. Retirement benefits for Milford Hoffman were discussed. Calculations for Mr. Hoffman's retirement were obtained from A.S. Hansen. From the figures submitted, Mr. Hoffman chose the 100% Joint & Survivor Option for $186.91 per month. Motion was made by Ron Wood approving his retirement option; motion seconded by Deb McClurkin. It was suggested by Ron Wood that signatures be obtained from all future retirees confirming their retirement date as well as their beneficiary. This procedure will be a routine part of the retirement process. Ron Wood provided an update to the Board on the status of the distribution of benefits payable as a result of Ellen Thexton's death. He indicated that A.S. Hansen had calculated the benefits assuming that either Cynthia Burke or James Wolfe would receive the benefits. He also indicated that the City Attorney's office had been contacted for advice as to determining the beneficiary. Don Botteron questioned whether the check should have a special endorsement clause stating that the amount of $21,813.57 was a final lump sum payment in settlement of Ms. Thexton's death benefits. Mr. Wood made a motion to award a lump sum benefit in the amount of $21,813.57 payable to Cynthia W. Burke and James P. Wolfe conditioned upon the City Attorney's review and comment. The motion was seconded by Don Botteron and was approved by the Board. With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. APPROVED: Don Botteron, irman cc: John E.
