HomeMy WebLinkAboutCitizen Review Board - Minutes - 06/11/2008Citizen Review Board Meeting CIC Room, City Hall June 11, 2008 Present: Dennis Baker, Anne Berry, Harry Edwards, Dave Evans, Jim Dubler, Chris Kahler and Glenn Strunk Staff: Lt. Craig Dodd, Assistant City Attorney Greg Tempel, Infrastructure Services Specialist Trevor Blake, and Monica Gavin, Recorder. Chair Harry Edwards called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m Minutes: Dennis Baker made a motion to approve the May 14, 2008 minutes. Anne Berry seconded the motion. The motion passed 7:0. Voice Mail Reports: CRB Voice Mail Message Report Harry Edwards reported he checked the voice mail at 3:14 p.m. on June 11 and there were no messages. Bias Policing Voice Mail Report Lt. Dodd reported there were two voice mail messages left and placed both on a CD and distributed to the board. The first voice mail was left on May 14, 2008, and was a complaint on a police officer. The information was investigated by the involved Patrol Sergeant and the complaint was unfounded. The second voice mail was left on June 11, 2008, and the message referred to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and Detention Center. Sgt. Reed forwarded this message to LCSO Sgt. Dave Burns for follow- up. Public Input: None. Chair Harry Edwards noted one citizen; Megan Berg of the Rocky Mountain Collegian was present. New Business: ►C.TiTa Old Business: Meeting Location: Glenn Strunk asked if the meeting location could be moved south to either the new library or the library at Front Range Community College. Mr. Strunk asked if the Board was required meet at a City facility and if libraries were considered City facilities. Greg Tempel advised he wasn't sure if the libraries had been transferred to the Library District yet but the Board could use a non -City facility if they were willing to pay any fees associated with that. , Lt. Dodd mentioned the Fire Stations on Timberline both had conference rooms that would be available at no cost. Harry Edwards again stated the Fort Collins Police Services' Community Room would not be a first choice for regular Board meetings. Glenn Strunk will research options and report back to the Board. Meals Harry Edwards reported he had been notified by email that there is not a City policy that covers providing food at Board meetings which are held over the dinner hour. He asked if the Board would want any food or snacks provided during regular meetings. Glenn Strunk advised he was not in favor of providing food as normally meetings aren't that long and he can eat dinner when he gets home. Dennis Baker agreed the meetings are usually short; however, he asked if arrangements could be made to provide food if a subcommittee were to meet, knowing they usually run later into the evening. The Board decided special requests for food/snacks could be made in the future for subcommittee meetings that might run later into the evening. July Meeting The extended July meeting will be held at the Fort Collins Police Community Room and will include training at the conclusion of the business meeting. Pending Cases None Glenn Strunk moved to adjourn the meeting. Dennis Baker seconded the motion. The motion was approved 7:0 and the meeting was adjourned at 6:03 p.m. Next meeting: Wednesday, July 16, 2008, 5:30 p.m., Police Services Community Room, 2221 S. Timberline Road. Chair
