Miles Brown appeared requesting permits to put up awnings at 236 Linden. Coloring for
the canvas will be green , rust and tan stripes. The lettering will be in the valance read-
ing "Yankee Merchant" And "Old World Antiques". There was originally an awning on
both so basically they are just putting on new canvas. Motion was made to approve by
Wayne Sundberg. It was seconded by Ron Carsten. MOTION CARRIED.
Bettie J. Moore applied for changes at 320 Walnut, Goodwill. The masonite is bad on
the front of the building. They want to remove and remodel the facade to fit in with
the rest of Old Town. They plan to remove masonite kickboards and replace with ply-
wood. There will be stain glass above doorway. The colors picked will be a dark green
with gold trim. Bettie explained that the sign will remain exactly the same size but
they will make it out of wood. Ron Carsten made motion to approve. Janet Scott
seconded. MOTION CARRIED.
Roger Evans appeared before the Commission regarding 223 Linden St. requesting
conceptual review on Linden Square Partnership. Project consists of three buildings.
This review is for phase I of the project. The proposed building elevations were shown
to the Commission. Signage would probably be located on glass. All three buildings
will be connected internally on the second floor. The buildings exterior is painted
brick. They propose to try and remove paint. Hope to be under construction by Aug-
ust 1, 1983. Roger will come back for approval to July LPC meeting on further items.
Janet Scott made motion to approve conceptual plan. Wayne seconded. MOTION
CARRIED.
Under other business the memo received from Jim Reidhead regarding decertification
was discussed. It was noted that in the future decisions should probably be delayed un-
til the Commission has decertification papers in hand. Susan noted that in this instance
it wouldn't have made any difference because they couldn't approve without demolition
because corner stone depended upon the demolition of the building. (See memo as exhibit).
The minutes of the past meetingwere approved. John Dewhirst had a couple of news items.
The State Historical Society is looking at Alta Vista. There are some adobe houses in that
area that have been stuccoed over. The State is considering forming a district there.

John also introduced two gentlemen that will be helping him for the summer. They
are doing a historical survey between Laporte and Olive on both sides of the street.
When this is complete, more buildings might be added to LPC's district.
