HomeMy WebLinkAboutLandmark Preservation Commission - Minutes - 11/02/1983i 0 LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Special Meeting November 2, 1983 Dick Beardmore Janet Scott Wayne Sundberg Carol Tunner Glenda McCall Susan Hoskinson STAFF PRESENT: John Dewhirst - Debbie Zeigler Carol Sue Gray appeared before the Board requesting approval for an awning at 229 Walnut. The building will be renovated in the spring so the awning is a temporary sign to let people know that they are open. The awning will say "Stuff and Things". There will also be a sign painted on the sliding glass doors of the business. The body of the awing will be red and the lettering will be white. Motion was made to accept the awning and the window sign. MOTION CARRIED. Jim Reidhead explained his project at 261 Linden, known as the Frank P. Stover Building and the Bosworth Building. Jim explained that they are in the process of getting the building certified. A facade change is in the process. They are trying to restore it as close as possible to early historic pictures of the building. The garage door will be taken out and windows put in with arches. The coloring will be putty grey and one slightly darker grey on the corner building. The planned colors for the Bosworth Building will be a green grey with high -lights of tan and brown. A touch of rust accent will be used sparingly. Dick Beardmore abstained from voting because he is the architect of the project. Motion was made by Carol Tunner to approve the request. Janet Scott seconded. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Dick Beardmore asked if the regularly scheduled meeting on the second Wednesday of the month could possibly be changed to the first Wednesday of each month. After checking with the City Clerk, it was arranged to change the meeting to the first Wednesday of each month at 3.30 in the C.I.C. room. General discussion followed on becoming a certified commission. It was also noted that Susan Hoskinson is resigning from the Commission and a replacement will be needed.
