Dick Beardmore called the meeting to order.
Paul Wagner appeared before the Commission to request approval on paint samples
for 110 N. College. Mr. Wagner stated that only the brick is being painted above
the cornice and window frames. Carol Tunner asked why he had picked this
particular color. Mr. Wagner said it was personal preference and he felt it
accented awnings and stated that the high gloss also added additional protection.
Janet Scott said it was difficult to make a decision with no photos or drawings
of the building. Dick Beardmore suggested that they go on to the next case while
researching color slides from Planning Department for reference.
Roger Evans appeared to get approval for color scheme on 223 Linden St.. Roger
said there was very little historic documentation as to the original color scheme
so what is being presented is basically all new. Discussion followed on the color
samples and the rendered elevations presented. Wayne Sundberg made motion
to approve color scheme as presented subject to inspection of sample section
on -site within one working day after notification. Janet Scott seconded the
motion. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The Commission then returned to the previous applicant, Paul Wagner. He pointed
out on the slides the areas that would be painted for the LPC. Discussion followed
on clarifying specifics. Glenda McCall made motion to approve. Carol Tunner
seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. Mr. Wagner then
asked for suggestions on painting date sign on top of building. John Dewhirst
suggested that Mr. Wagner should select the color and present it to LPC for
approval at a later date.
Jim Reidhead presented a new color scheme for 261 Linden. A color scheme
had already been approved and Jim was asking that the color scheme be amended.
Dick Beardmore abstained from voting due to involvement in the project. Janet
Scott acted as chairman. Glenda McCall thought that the new color scheme
was much more complimentary. Jim stated that the new color scheme works
better with the adjacent building in an attempt not to clash. Carol Tunner made
motion to approve the changes in the Bosworth Building color scheme as presented.
Wayne Sundberg seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. John Dewhirst
spoke about the possibility of the City selling the "Old Waterworks" property
on Overland Trail or acquiring it as a park site. The question of the LPC's
jurisdiction was raised since the structure is outside the city limits.
John Dewhirst discussed three historical projects underway. 1) Neighborhood
history survey. Oral history on tapes to be placed in the Library. 2) Survey of
6 blocks of College Avenue. 3) DDA survey. The projects should be completed
by year's end.
Meeting was adjourned.
