HomeMy WebLinkAboutLandmark Preservation Commission - Minutes - 05/01/1985LANDMARK PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of May 1, 1985 The meeting was called to order at 5:36 p.m. in the Council Information Center of New City Hall. Commission members present included Dick Beardmore, Wayne Sundberg, Sally Ketcham, Carol Tunner and Michael Ehler. Staff members present included Sherry Albertson -Clark, Edwina Ecchevaria and Kayla Ballard. The Audio Alternative - 217 Jefferson Applicant - Richard Duplisea Request - Approval for existing window signage Richard Duplisea spoke briefly requesting approval for the existing sign. Sherry stated that Ann fernan, City Zoning Department, and herself had checked various signage and found this one, among many, was not previously approved by the Commission. Wayne asked who he leased the building from. Mr. Duplisea replied that it was leased from Carl Glaser, architect, who has his office above Audio Alternatives. Wayne moved to approve the existing sign. Carol seconded. Motion carried 4-0 (Michael abstained from the voting due to late arrival). 253 Linden - Jefferson Street Entrance Applicant - James Reidhead, Old Town Associates Request - Wooden building directory plaque and window directory signage Paula Theele spoke briefly giving a description of the request. Sherry asked what the panel material of the wall directory would be. Paula replied that it would be wood. Dick asked if the blue on the wall directory will match the building trim. Paula replied that it would match. Wayne asked how the wall directory was to be mounted and if it to be bolted into the brick or into the mortar? LPC Minutes • • 5/01/85 - Page 2 Paula replied that it would be mounted by six screws, one on the top center and bottom center and two on each side but was not sure if it would be bolted into the brick or mortar. Michael moved to approve the signage as proposed. Wayne seconded. Motion passed 5-0. Approval of Minutes of the April 3, 1985 and April 10, 1985 Meeting Minutes of the April 3rd and April 10th meetings were approved as submitted. Other Business Sherry distributed copies of the Proclamation presented by the mayor and copies of the posters that are to be placed around town for National Preservation Week. She stated that four people had been selected to get the "Friends of Preservation" Award. She added that the panel discussion would be monitored by Dick Beardmore and June Bennett, Felix Lee, John Clark, owner of the Elizabeth Street Guesthouse, and Jim Reidhead would speak at this discussion. Sherry stated she talked with John Renhowe of Larsen and Associates who requested a special meeting for the Food Coop/EDAW project. She added that May 22nd is a possibility and would get back with the Commission as soon as a date is set. Dick stated the Pest House is now gone. It was demolished April 27, 1985. Edwina stated the wood blocks for the "FOP" awards will be taken to a trophy dealer and photos will be engraved on brass plates which will be placed on four sides of the block. The photos will be of the buildings that have been demolished which are the Unitarian Church, First National Bank, Loomis House and DeSillio School. There would be a brass plaque at the top of the wood block that would read "Friend of Preservation 1985" and then the person's name then Fort Collins, Colorado. The meeting adjourned at 6:17 p.m.
