We requested and were granted $1,200.00 for 2008 and 2009. > The Commission recognized our student writer winners of the Women in Your Own History Essay Contest (grades 7-9) at a PR1 School Board meeting along with their teachers on March 26`h (as well as at the City Council meeting April 17`h). We invited private schools and home school groups for the first time to participate. A reception was held for the winners, their families, teachers and the women the writers wrote about. > We recognized our Marcile N..Wood Award winner, Jennifer Rodriguez at the April 17`h City Council meeting and took her to dinner afterwards. It was an honor to award Jennifer for the amazing work she does placing homeless in homes, finding jobs for them, cars, etc. > We updated our by laws. > Beth Etter met with the City Council July 24th for a council review. > KRFC hosted our second radio program Sept. 18`h with Jennifer Rodriguez (MNW winner) and one of the women she recently helped. > Karen Weikunat left as our Council Liason. David Roy is our new liason. We were thankful to retain Suzanne Jarboe -Simpson as our incredible city staff liason. We were not able to meet all of our goals listed in the 2007 Work Plan. Hopefully, our 2008 Work Plan will be more realistic given the time and resources available to this committee.
