Lee Needham, Jane Liska Smith, Liliane Francuz, Alan Howe, York, Craig Russell MEMBERS ABSENT: RayTollison STAFF PRESENT: Ellen Martin, Charity Finnigsmier, Jill Stilwell, Matt Day, and Jim ONeill CRB LIAISON: Carol Ann FTixon I. Call to order. 3:34 p.m. - Mr. Russell II. Consideration of the current agenda III. Review of Minutes from the meeting on August 15, 2007 Ms. Liska Smith made a motion to approve the Minutes Mn Howe seconded the motion Unanimously Approved IV. Citizen Participation: Mr. Patrick O'Donnell from the community visited the board. V. Case Park Project Final Design Review: Mr. Matt Day from the Park Planning Dept. along with Ms. Martin presented the design concept for artist, Jim Lynxwiler since he was unable to attend the meeting. The design for Case Park is influenced and integral to the life and work of Mr. Stuart Case, whom the park is named for. Mr. Day gave the board information and history on Mr. Case and his life's work at CSU The pond located at Case Park is the specific location of the piece and the theme of water is a focal point in the design. Ms. Martin reviewed the specifics of the sculptural pieces and the budget for the project. The estimated completion time for this project is Spring 2008. Discussion was had Mr. York made a motion to move to approve the design concept as presented Ms. Francuz seconded the motion. Unanimously Approved VI. Provencetown Park Presentation: Mr. Matt Day with Parks Planning presented the location of a new park location to be constructed in the new subdivision of Provencetown. The 9 acre park is estimated to be constructed and open in late 2008. Parks Department is working with Natural Areas on the park construction and Natural Areas is also working on a dam project in the same area Whether Natural Areas will be able to contribute to the park art project is still being determined. The Provenctown Park presentation was to inform the board of a new Art in Public Places project opportunityin the future. Due to the current budget, Park Planning is considering using the Design Consultant list for this project but a final decision on the selection of an artist will be made closer to the park's construction. Discussion was had VII. Selection Process Discussion: The Art in Public Places Board reviewed the current selection/voting process used while choosing an artist for a project. Mr. Jim ONeill from the Purchasing division joined the board for discussion and review. Ms. Martin handed out a form with the current selection process and possible points for discussion. The board also referred to a handout given previously by Mr. York The board presented ideas that will clarify the process of voting in a selection of an artist/artist team for a project and requested that the Art in Public Places staff present a draft of this newly compiled information at the October meeting. VIII. Staff Reports: Ms Martin distributed the staff report with updates of the program's art projects. IX. Other Business: None MI.
