Call Meeting to Order Chairperson Don Wells called the meeting, which was held at the DMA Plaza, to order at 1:30 p.m. A quorum was present. II. Board gave a short presentation to the residents of DMA about the SAB and asked for input from the residents: A. Joyce Kremble asked if there is any way to keep the bikes and skateboards off the downtown sidewalks. Marcia Richards explained that there are only three police patrolling the Fort Collins area because of the budget. B. Olive Morgan expressed concerned about senior trips being cut from the City budget. Bud Herin said he didn't feel the day trips would be cut. Anita Basham said the Senior Center Council had written a letter to the City Council reporting the importance of the trip program. Marjorie McTaggart reported that the Office on Aging has permission from the County Commissioners to write a letter to the Fort Collins City Council backing all concerns about Dial -A -Ride. Dennis Kaz encouraged citizens to take their concerns to their church pastors because churches may have resources available. C. Judy Curby was wondering why Transfort doesn't go the Heart Center and Super Wal-Mart. Marjorie McTaggart explained the new policy between PVH and Dial -A - Ride. Dennis Kaz will look into this issue. Judy is also upset about Comcast and what she considers inappropriate programs on TV. Marjorie McTaggart is looking into Channel 22 which is under a new management for possible alternative programming. D. Jim Nelson asked a question concerning the park fee. Is the City disguising the tax as a fee?? A suggestion was made to contact his councilperson with that concern. E. Olive Morgan reminded everyone, when you have a medical emergency call 911. III. Approval of Minutes — Marcia Richards made a motion to accept the September 13`h minutes; Marjorie McTaggart seconded; motion carried. IV. Correspondence A. James Downey read a letter he wrote to Dianne Heath expressing gratitude from the Senior Advisory Board for her service on the board. Marjorie made a motion to accept the letter as drafted; Kathy Schuster seconded the motion; motion carried. V. Old Business A. Report on ad hoc committee to raise matching funds for the expansion of the Fort Collins Senior Center — Bud Herin reported that a list of names of people for the committee is being developed. They will be invited to a dinner/cocktail recruitment party along with other dignitaries at the Senior Center in mid- January. B. Bridgingthe he Gap— Comments on the event held September 29, 2006 were all very good. C. Community Homecoming — Comments on the event that was held October 7, 2006. The parade was one of the best in recent years. D. Chili Cook -off update — Jim Downey, chair of the Senior Advisory Board cooking team, told the residents of the DMA about the annual fundraiser held at the Senior Center. This year's Sundance Bluegrass Festival and Chili Cook -Off will be held at the Senior Center on Saturday, October 14. Residents were encouraged to attend. The SAB has traditionally done well in the contest and planned to win again. Each member of the SAB donated monies to purchase supplies and pay the admission fee. E. Evaluative tool report — Tabled F. Dennis Kaz will arrange for a representative from PVH to come to a meeting to explain what services will be at PVH and/or at MCR and how PVH will assist with transportation to each location.
