CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD MINUTES
Regular Meeting — Wednesday, April 25, 2007

A regular meeting of the Cultural Resources Board was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
The following members were present:
Board Members present: Jack Steele, Carol Ann Hixon, Ann Wilmsen,
Diane Gaede, Sue Beck-Ferkiss, Susan Marshall
Board Members absent: Patrick Moran
Staff Members present: Jill Stilwell, Gail Budner
Guests Present: none
I. Call to Order - (5:10 p.m.) Ms. Beck-Ferkiss
Il. Consideration of agenda — Mr. Steele requested that we add a discussion about upcoming summer
meetings to Other Business.
Ill. Consideration and approval of minutes of March 29 and April 11, 2007:
Mr. Steele made a motion to accept the minutes as amended.
Ms. Hixon seconded the motion..
Passed unanimously.
IV. Retribution for organizations not using the Fort Fund logo at funded events:
After a discussion about Read On! Fort Collins and Ethos West Chamber Orchestra not using the logo
or the Fort Fund banner at their recent events, the Board decided that a letter should be sent reminding
them that the logo is to be used on their printed materials. If a second offense occurs for any of the
funded organizations, the board would like a letter sent to them stating that their funding may be
jeopardized in future granting sessions.
V. Fort Fund Tier 1 - Discussion and Funding Recommendations:
A discussion took place regarding the Boards desire that the application for Tier 1 be amended and
preferably appear distinctly different from the Tier 2 and 3 applications.
The Board reviewed 14 Fort Fund grant applications, conferred about their individual scores and
developed their recommendations.
Dr. Gaede made a motion to submit recommendations for Fort Fund disbursements to City Council as
outlined in the attached spreadsheet.
Ms. Hixon seconded.
Passed unanimously.

VI. Review of Past Fort Fund Events:
Mr. Steele reported on the Annual Spring Powwow sponsored by NCIPA, the National Art Exhibition
and Sale sponsored by NCAA and the Mark Spragg Lecture sponsored by Read On! Fort Collins.
Ms. Marshall reported on the Musical Moods Spring Concert sponsored by Ethos West Chamber
Orchestra.
VII. Liaison Reports:
Mr. Steele reported on the museum.
Ms. Marshall reported on the DBA.
Ms. Wilmsen reported on Arts Alive
Ms. Hixon reported on Art in Public Place
VIII. Liaison Reports:
Ms. Stilwell reported on the Cultural Facilities Plan and passed around survey results to the Board
regarding the Annual Appreciation Reception for the Boards and Commissions members sent out
by the Clerks Office.
IX. Other Business:
Ms. Gaede will create a survey to be sent to Tier I applications to get their opinions, comments
and suggestions on the new application form. The Board will review the survey by e-mail prior to
Ms. Stilwell distributing it.
The Board discussed changes to upcoming meetings through the summer. They also requested
that a discussion regarding a possible schedule and deadline change for the Fort Fund granting
session in June be put on the May agenda.
