HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 - Air Quality Advisory Board - Work PlanAQAB 2007 Work Plan Greenhouse Gas Emissions • Track Fort Collins Sustainability Group's Climate Resolution; review and make recommendations to update to City's plan to reduce greenhouse gases. • Consider climate adaptation needs for Fort Collins. • Recommend green building, sustainable design, and energy conservation practices that would best improve air quality. Mobile Source Emissions Reductions • Select a limited number of recommendations in the 2006 Mobility Management Best Practices Study for further study, and prepare recommendations for Council. • Broaden communication and collaboration with other organizations (PSD, CSU, etc.) and other boards (T-Board, NRAB) to better understand barriers and opportunities to a strong multi -modal transportation system • Track the efforts to form a Regional Transportation Authority and recommend a platform of principles that support air quality. • Track HB 1302 efforts to address high -emitting vehicles. • Study and recommend ways the City can reduce diesel emissions. • Evaluate trash truck impacts to air quality and prepare recommendations. • Suggest 3 locations where grade -separated road crossings would be viable in Fort Collins. • Study and make a recommendation regarding the smoking vehicle hotline in Fort Collins. • Provide input to the development of FC MOVES, a new mobility metrics system for Fort Collins Ozone • Track ozone issues; recommend actions as necessary. Air Quality Communication and Outreach • Provide enhanced education of air quality issues (idling, wood smoke, ride -sharing, renewable energy, energy conservation, indoor air quality). • Provide input on design of air quality citizen survey and review results. • Review and provide input to air quality marketing efforts (Track to Win, etc.) • Review and promote a Report to Public on air quality issues (including metrics). Other Issues • Provide input on the `08/'09 budget. • Track progress on sustainability and promote air quality -related sustainability actions. • Reconvene the West Nile Virus Task Force during early 2007 to evaluate the City's West Nile Virus prevention program. Make recommendation on the funding and other elements of the WNV program in 2007. • Evaluate regulation and enforcement of fugitive dust from construction sites. The goal of the Air Quality Advisory Board is to promote the City's overarching goal, 'To continually improve air quality as the city grows". The Board plans to prioritize the 2007 Work Plan actions according to importance, urgency, and attainability.
