HomeMy WebLinkAboutLiquor Licensing Authority - Minutes - 07/29/1992Council Liaison: Bob Winokur I Staff Liaison: Rita Knoll Harris A special meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held on Wednesday, July 29, 1992, in the Council Chambers of the Fort Collins Municipal Building. The following members were present: Cooper, Crowfoot, Mael, Norton, Poncelow, Schroeer, and Wawro. Staff Members Present: John Duval, City Attorney's Office Wanda Krajicek, City Clerk ication from the Overland Sertoma Club Robert Deakins, Events Manager, Overland Sertoma Club, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Authority for scheduling the special meeting to consider the Special Events Permit for New West Fest. He noted the Overland Sertoma Club had assumed the responsibility for the beer garden last year and added no problems were experienced at that time. He estimated 100,000 persons will attend New West Fest although not all of those persons will be beer drinkers. Authority member Poncelow asked about the hours of actual serving time at the beer garden. Mr. Deakins replied they will be serving until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday if there are patrons. If not, they will shut down earlier. He noted off -duty police personnel will be in place on Saturday. Authority member Crowfoot asked if Sertoma Club personnel will be stationed along the corridor at the entrance to the beer garden to prevent people from taking beer out of the enclosed beer garden area. Mr. Deakins replied that people will be placed at each end of the sidewalk to make sure beer does not leave the enclosed area. He described the purpose of the entrance corridor to Mathews Street, noting the corridor will give the beer garden more visibility and will allow the people patronizing the food stands better access. He noted an ID check point will be at the entrance so that only people of legal age can enter. He noted they again will be requiring anyone who is served to wear a bracelet. Authority member Wawro asked about the number of uniformed officer that will be present. Mr. Deakins responded that two officers will be present at any given time. • 0 • July 29, 1992 Maggie Kunze, Director of New West Fest, expressed support for the beer garden sponsored by the Overland Sertoma Club. Authority member Cooper asked if the hours listed on the application were adequate for set up and tear down of the event. Mr. Deakins replied that he believed the hours listed were adequate, based on last year's experience. Authority member Crowfoot made a motion, seconded by Authority member Norton, to approve the application of the Overland Sertoma Club for a Special Events Permit in Library Park on August 22-23, 1992. Yeas: Cooper, Crowfoot, Mael, Norton, Poncelow, Schroeer, and Wawro. Nays: None. THE MOTION CARRIED. Other Business Authority member Norton asked about the ad placed in the Coloradoan by J.J. McCabe's Sports Grille advertising "unique monster 21-oz. margaritas". Authority member Crowfoot stated McCabe's has not run that ad since the Authority spoke with them about it. Authority member Norton stated that since she had mentioned the ad at the last meeting, she would like a copy of the ad in the file to document what she read. Assistant City Attorney Duval stated the ad could be placed in the file for that purpose. AdJournment Authority member Crowfoot made a motion, seconded by Authority member Norton, to adjourn the meeting. Yeas: Cooper, Crowfoot, Mael, Norton, Poncelow, Schroeer, and Wawro. Nays: None.
